Individual & couple therapy. In the Office or the comfort & convenience of home.
Individual Therapy As a general practitioner, I help individuals address a broad range of presenting concerns. I work with clients living with depression, other mood disorders, and anxiety. I help individuals manage and work through the challenges of life such as difficult life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, forgiveness, and aging or age-related issues. I help clients make health-related behavior changes to lose weight, quit smoking, or better manage chronic illness as well as those those living and coping with injury or other illness. My intention is for therapy to help you meet your goals, often through a brief model of 8 to 12 sessions though some concerns or circumstances benefit from longer therapy. Couple Therapy My approach to couples therapy is based in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, or EFT. Couples often know they are stuck in a cycle that is not working. I can help identify, untangle, and change the problematic patterns. By rediscovering and rebuilding connection and creating new ways of engaging with one another, you can heal past wounds within the relationship and rebuild trust. You can learn to communicate and meet each other's needs more effectively. Through understanding and compromise, you can manage the stressors and decisions of daily family life while maintaining connection and partnership.
Accessible, Convenient, Discreet, Effective To be effective, therapy must first be accessible. I understand the time demands and limitations many face today and just how difficult it can be to make into the therapy office. In my unique practice, I offer flexible appointment times AND the option to have therapy in a convenient office location OR the comfort of your own home.
There are a range of benefits to having your therapist come to your home. There is the increased comfort you might feel and increased convenience you might need. In-home therapy also allows for assessment and intervention in the context in which you live adding accuracy to assessment and allowing interventions to resonate in a new way in the space in which you are most familiar. Whether you are considering individual or couple therapy, the biggest benefit of in-home counseling may be the ability for you to start establishing new habits at home right in the session. If you want me to be able to assess and help you in the setting that is most familiar to you and need the convenience of in-home therapy in your busy and demanding schedule, I encourage you to consider home-based services. I serve many neighborhoods throughout Houston. Click here for more on how to contact me to learn more.
Some of my clients prefer therapy in a safe and quiet space separate from the stresses of the day-to-day, a place to take a break and do the work of therapy, a warm and welcoming office. The therapy office serves as a defined space for self-reflection and growth allowing you to do the work of therapy and reengage in work, home, or family. If you need therapy to occur in a place of respite separate from the daily workings of your life, my office hours may be the best option for you. The Palm Court Building is conveniently-located in the Midtown/Montrose area. With its New Orleans style courtyard, it is not only accessible, but intimate, comfortable, and discreet.
