Angela Romeo, Psy. D. I meet you where you are.
Hello, I am Dr. Angela Romeo, a Texas Licensed Psychologist (#34222) located in Houston, TX. I earned my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from Wright State University's APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Program. After completing additional training in Florida and Boston, I settled my personal and professional life in Texas. I've happily called Houston home since 2007.
One of the most valuable lessons I've learned in years of practice is that therapy can only be effective if it is accessible. When you're ready to ask for help, you need scheduling appointments to be easy and convenient and a therapist who is accepting, non-judmental and makes you feel at ease. That is why I offer individuals and couples the option of appointments in the comfort and convenience of your own home. In addition to providing services in my centrally-located office, I make house calls so you can easily access the help you want. My approach to therapy is warm, respectful, and collaborative. As a psychologist, I bring certain expertise to our collaboration while you bring self-knowledge, the ability to learn from your life experiences, and a vision of what you want your life to be. Within an overarching relational approach, I integrate strategic solution-focused, emotionally focused, existential, and cognitive-behavioral / acceptance and commitment / mindfulness therapies to create a plan personalized to you and your needs. We will first identify your strengths as a foundation on which to build. Our work might be focused on problem-solving and finding new ways of looking at things to create effective solutions. We may work on enhancing skills to increase comfort with, and tolerance for, uncomfortable emotions or to get you out your mind when you feel stuck in an unproductive cycle. If past hurts are negatively impacting your current life, we may spend some time attending to healing those wounds. Whatever path we choose together, my hope is that our work will help increase your experience of hope, connection, and meaning in your life. The intention will always be to help you reach your personal goals.
I serve individuals and couples from young adults to seniors. I am interested in diversity and multiculturalism and enjoy working with people from various backgrounds and identities including members of the LGBTQ community. I proudly identify as a feminist and an ally. I welcome clients working through issues of identity development, those struggling with others' acceptance, or those simply seeking an open and respectful therapist. I consider the role culture and identity play in your life in our work together.
In my personal life, I enjoy running, cooking, theater, music, and spending time with family, friends, and my two dogs.
